My name is Jovenel Pierre, date of birth: 6th June 2002. Born and raised in Haiti. Replacing first born son in family since I have lost an older brother before I was born, following two older sisters, the oldest being only my father‘s daughter and not my mom’s, a little sister and two younger brothers.
My dream as a normal person is after graduating high school to study international relations but as someone who
has a bigger calling, through my calling I envision to inspire major changes and to be of great impact in our so lost community.
I want to become the type of person that doesn't just jump on the topic of " Haiti is a third world country ", I want to be taking action towards changing the topic and view of my beloved country.
I see it as an obligation that everything that I do should consist of serving my country and I won't underestimate it to say that it will be easy but I will be doing it! Change isn't always easy especially the change from negativity to positivity but at the end it will be worth it.
At age of 5, so like 15 years ago I got exposed to a life that not many people can relate to so I’m here to speak out my story to Make my story known to all.
I want to be a living proof of people that does not let situations or hardships define him, not letting even the biggest problems on earth gain a grip on him as to not become the person he has been called to be.
I'm here blogging to not only tell my story, but also to impact, to lead others that might find themselves living a life where they face constant hardships to knowing that their story is uniquely theirs, Hardships don't define you, it isn't aimed to destroy you but instead it is YOUR TESTIMONY and to embrace it enough to go towards growth and listening and following your calling into life.
I love communicating and socializing with people that's why i think it comes easy for me to learn languages...
I speak Haitian Creole, English ( i think it's safe to say i speak more english than creole actually because i grew up learning it and i fell in love with reading books in english which has molded my english speaking abilities ), Intermediate French, learning spanish and chinese in the meantime!
I think the thing i hate the most is not being able to communicate with people, like FOR REAL! ( literally shouting that in my brain ).
* First off, I'm proud of and grateful to God for the life story he has given me and the path he has put me on.
- At age 14, I qualified for and had my first job as a translator in some sensible fields like evangelizing and medical, since then every summer and anytime possible I would get hired to translate.
- In the meantime, the school that I go to ( https://www.teachaiti.org/ ), I am teaching sign language as a way of serving, every Thursdays for an hour.
( I began learning sign language since I was in the 2nd grade at the first school I used to go and lived in at a time ( https://www.christianlighthaiti.org/ ) ... and had stopped in 7th grade, after I had to move to this current school that I am in now. Since it's been a while that I've used sign language, while I'm teaching it, I am learning it again too!
- The school that I go to, the first year I came in, I was voted as vice president for my class, the second year we didn't do any voting because it was year of chaos in our country and COVID-19 kicked in so we didn't have enough schooling time to do this, but on my 3rd year I was voted president having accomplished my goal of maintaining a spirit of togetherness in our midst, given how everyone loved the way that I led the class and how everything went well I would say, they agreed to keep me as president for this current year... But as the year came in on the last day of the first week, I had bad news to give, which was that I would be dropping out of school to work at a new coffee shop that would be providing opportunity of paying for my college and that I would be doing GED to earn my US diploma, and before I left I organized the election and another guy named Thebaud was elected president.
A few months later I got back into the school because things weren't going great the country, just a week earlier I was supposed to go take my GED test in the Dominican Republic to earn my diploma to complete my application to Minerva university only to hear surfacing on the news that The Dominicans aren't accepting Haitians in their country and that Haitians couldn't rent places, it was a total chaos for Haitians who were back there, so it was made know to anyone who were planning to go to just STOP.
So there I was back in class at the same school again, quickly the class were saying that it is only fair that I retake my place as president, I talked against it, and pointed out that this topic of me being replaced president over someone they have voted, who is actually a good leader is just demeaning and disrespectful to the guy voted and against leadership in general, so that was it on the disrespect towards him.
They found a way to have me as president advisor and as treasurer since they hadn't have these in our class committee.
Being proposed again to be president this coming year, our last year of school! WHAAAT?!!
( the goal of this long story isn't about me boasting about being perfect or the best because I'M NOT... it just shows how I am respected and how I am trusted, long story short I have accomplished such accomplishment of gaining the hearts of a group of people having no doubts whatsoever about my capacity to lead them and they love my leading ).
If I am to be seen as the best in any way, know that it's because I try my very best in whatever that I do, and what I do the most is leading; whether consciously or unconsciously so... Yeah I'm proud of always being in position to be of impact upon others and being gifted to lead and the calling to live a leadership life and a heart devoted to not just do it vaguely but to DO IT WELL .
